TeleCANesis, an Ottawa-based Canadian software company, addresses one of the biggest challenges facing embedded software development today: the growing complexity of integrating multiple communication buses, protocols and human-machine interface (HMI) frameworks within increasingly sophisticated electronic systems. Software teams spend valuable time on protocol bring-up and interface integration rather than product innovation: TeleCANesis solves this challenge by simplifying connectivity, reducing software bring-up costs by 70% or more and significantly accelerating time to market.

TeleCANesis is an embedded software environment that enables system architects and software engineers to quickly interconnect system nodes using standardised communication interfaces and protocols, while automating much of the repetitive work traditionally associated with embedded software integration.

The platform comprises three integrated components. TeleCANesis Hub is a web-based graphical design environment for configuring hardware and communication layouts using drag-and-drop tools and reusable templates. TeleCANesis Builder, a Visual Studio Code extension, provides signal exploration, routing visualisation, automated endpoint bindings and test case generation. TeleCANesis Engine provides the configurable runtime core for deterministic, real-time connectivity.

TeleCANesis supports a comprehensive range of hardware buses, including CAN, SPI, I²C, RS485, Ethernet, Bluetooth® Low Energy and LoRa, together with industrial protocols such as MQTT, JSON, Modbus, J1939, ZeroMQ, Protobuf and ISOBUS. It also integrates with leading HMI frameworks including Qt, Flutter, Slint, Unity, Crank Storyboard and DiSTI GL Studio, enabling seamless communication across diverse embedded systems.

The platform is suited to applications including industrial automation and control, robotics, asset tracking, remote condition monitoring, e-mobility, smart agriculture and healthcare. Engineers define connectivity at a high level, allowing TeleCANesis to automatically generate much of the underlying software, reducing development effort while improving consistency.

The benefits are both technical and commercial. By reducing software bring-up costs by more than 70%, TeleCANesis shortens development cycles, reduces project risk and allows engineering teams to bring products to market faster. Reusable software assets and templates continue to generate efficiencies across future projects, delivering long-term value beyond the initial implementation.

Since its launch in September 2025, TeleCANesis has continued to evolve in response to customer requirements. The latest release introduces blueprint-level management of codecs and imported message definitions, enabling communication assets to be reused across multiple projects while simplifying maintenance. Further enhancements include improved message ingestion workflows, expanded runtime support for NXP i.MX8MP and i.MX95 platforms using the latest Yocto Scarthgap toolchain, and a new CANopen codec plug-in.
